The addition of various dye colors suspended in the wax allows Briwax to diminish minor scratches without changing the character or color of the wood.
An inherent cleaning solvent in the wax, before it evaporates, is designed to clean grease and grime off the surface, leaving a waxed surface. This thin film of wax prevents oils and salts (fingerprints) from harming the surface finish.

As it is a genuine WAX spray it does not contain surfactants, soaps, or silicones, it relies on the cleaning properties of the high quality selected waxes contained in the spray. Most household sprays, purchased from the grocery store, contain no wax and simply evaporate after application, leaving no protective finish.
